Following the 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week, energy efficiency has been officially framed as the cornerstone of regional economic transformation. Before investing in new generation, Zimbabwean industries are being urged to prioritize “energy productivity”—getting more economic output from every kilowatt used. This post highlights the fastest routes to lowering emissions and cutting costs, from implementing the 2026 Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for industrial motors to utilizing “peak shaving” battery storage to bypass high-tariff periods on the national grid.
