Technical Committees
The Business Council for Sustainable Development Zimbabwe (BCSDZ) utilizes its Technical Committees to drive industry-specific sustainability standards. Here are short descriptions for each:
Climate Change & Emissions
Focuses on decarbonization strategies, carbon footprinting, and aligning Zimbabwean businesses with the Paris Agreement and National Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Energy
Promotes industrial energy efficiency and the adoption of renewable energy technologies to reduce costs and operational reliance on the national grid. Self sufficient energy for businesses.
Environmental Management Act (EMA)
Acts as a bridge between industry and regulators, ensuring businesses understand and comply with Zimbabwe’s environmental laws & requirements.
Water
Dedicated to water stewardship, including auditing industrial water use, promoting efficiency, and ensuring responsible wastewater discharge and recycling.
Waste
Drives the transition from a linear to a circular economy by focusing on waste minimization, industrial recycling, and “waste-to-energy” projects.
Sustainability Reporting
Provides guidance on Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) for investors.
